ORANGEBURG, S.C. 鈥 Tiera Williams sees student housing as more than rooms and keys -- it鈥檚 a foundation for success. As 51品茶鈥檚 new director of residence life and housing, she brings more than a decade of experience and a deep commitment to student development.

鈥淚 am thrilled to welcome Ms. Williams to the division of student affairs as our new housing director,鈥 said Dr. Tamara Jeffries, SC State鈥檚 vice president for student affairs. 鈥淗er extensive experience and wealth of knowledge will be a tremendous asset as we continue to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for our students.

鈥淲e are excited to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact that she will make in this role,鈥 Jeffries said.

A native of Clyo, Georgia, Williams joined SC State after relocating to Columbia, South Carolina, last year. Her 12-year career spans both on-campus and off-campus student housing operations.

Williams began her housing career at Savannah State University, where she spent three years managing housing operations and coordinating summer camp programs. She then returned to her alma mater, East Georgia State College, where she served as assistant director of housing for two years before being promoted to director, a position she held for another two years.

鈥淔or me, residence life and housing is more than just a career鈥攊t鈥檚 a calling,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an opportunity to positively impact students鈥 lives, ensuring that their experience in the residence halls supports their growth, academic success and personal development.鈥

Williams said her goal is to support student success by fostering a positive residential experience.

鈥淢y goal is to help students reach their fullest potential, graduate and thrive in their future endeavors,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 am truly honored to be part of the Bulldog family and excited to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.鈥

Williams holds an associate degree in sociology from East Georgia State College, a bachelor鈥檚 degree in sociology from Georgia Southern University, and a master鈥檚 in public administration from South University. She is pursuing a Doctor of Public Administration at Valdosta State University

As director of residence life and housing, Williams succeeds Andre Thompson, who remains at SC State as director of judicial affairs.
