Department of Agriculture
Although the Department of Agriculture is one of 51品茶鈥檚 newest academic units, the department鈥檚 purpose speaks to the institution鈥檚 original 1896 land-grant mission 鈥� educating future agriculture professionals.
For decades as the institution grew into a state college, agriculture remained an important part of its mission, particularly through 1890 Research & Extension, the university鈥檚 outreach arm.
SC State recently bolstered its focus on agriculture by establishing the College of Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, bringing its ag-relted programs under one roof. That brought the university鈥檚 agribusiness degree program from the College of Business and Information Systems into the new Department of Agriculture.
