As a recipient of the President鈥檚 Education Award and Junior Scholar designations from institutions such as USC Upstate, USC Aiken, and Clemson University鈥檚 Emerging Scholars Program, Gittings demonstrated a commitment to her studies and ambition for higher learning.
Gittings鈥 leadership extended beyond the classroom. She served as Junior Class vice president, represented Hampton County at ALA Palmetto Girls State, and was active in clubs such as the National Beta Club, Emerging Scholars, and the Broadcast Journalism Club.
